Etched Glass is the process of texturizing the flat surface of glass.
Two methods are used, chemical etching and what is commonly referred to
a sand blast etching. We take the sand blast method and instead of sand
which creates an uneven surface due to the irregular sand particles,
we use aluminum oxide which has far greater etching and sculpting
properties due to its size and regular surface.
In recent times many creative artist have started a new process of
dimensional etching or sculpting of glass. Numerous glass layers can be
applied giving a three dimensional look or a thicker glass is used and a
design or pattern is sculpted into the glass.
When lit from the bottom or side of the glass, the sculpted section reflects the light creating the three dimensional effect.
